How We Work

Impala Medico specialises in the recruitment and management of temporary and permanent medical staff. We supply staff to healthcare service providers, including hospitals, doctors’ premises and other institutions that provide public or private medical services.

Impala Medico is a preferred provider of medical personnel to organisations that may find themselves short-staffed because of illness or holiday absences, for example.

We can supply staff on hourly, daily or weekly basis – and for longer assignments as required. We are available for you, on short notice, at any time of the day or night throughout the year.

As a healthcare provider, you can call us at any time of the day or night to discuss your staffing needs. We can also meet with you to discuss your more detailed requirements for temporary medical staffing. This might apply if, for example, you anticipate a high level of staffing need; or require personnel with special skills or training. We can discuss assigning a member of staff to liaise with you on a continuing basis and manage your staffing programme, as you require.

When you call us to book staff for a shift, you are assured that the medical staff that we supply have been through our full compliance process, to confirm their professional credentials, including full reference checking. When we select staff for the assignment, we always seek to meet any preferences that you may have for example staff who have worked with your organisation in the past.

Impala Medico pays candidates and invoices all clients on a weekly basis.

We use the latest in internet banking and electronic invoicing systems to assist healthcare providers, with full reporting capabilities.

Why Us

When you require nursing at home for you or a loved one, then like most people, you’ll want the best quality service, one that’s safe and reliable. The nursing agency should be prepared to listen to your needs and then provide a nurse or care giver who is experienced and sympathetic to your personal choices and preferences.

You’ll expect a proper assessment of your needs by a qualified nurse, with other family members present at the meeting, if you choose, in liaison with your GP or hospital consultant.

Above all, you want homecare that gives you peace of mind, so that you can concentrate on getting better or seeking the relief and support provided by professional nursing care or home help.

You’ll want to know that there is always someone you can talk to at the nursing agency, at any hour of the day or night, if you have any questions, cares or concerns. If you want to cancel or change the service, then 24-hours’ notice should be sufficient to let the agency know.

Impala Medico meets all these qualities. This is the service that we provide. It’s why we are the first choice for so many families and individuals who want good quality homecare and private nursing.

How it Works

The quality and safety of the homecare and private nursing services we provide at Impala Medico are paramount. Quality and safety are the top priority in all that we do.

Impala Medico operates a process of continuous review and development in every aspect of the service we deliver. We manage internal teams that are trained and dedicated to carry out medical staff compliance, to check references and qualifications.

Our client consultants are similarly experienced in liaising helpfully and professionally with each client, the patients and their families. All medical assessments of patients, at the start of every programme, are by experienced, qualified nurses.

The process of service delivery is overseen by our own independent audit team, which reports directly to our top management and account to the professional and Government-appointed organisations that oversee the homecare and medical staffing sector.

So, we have highly skilled and trained people who specialise in each aspect of the service that you receive. This means that when one of our agency nurses or care givers arrives at your home, you can be confident that we’ve taken every step to ensure the quality and safety of the care programme.

Do you require the services of a qualified nurse – or for a care assistant? We can help you choose. All our staff are interviewed and assessed by Impala Medico, to meet relevant healthcare standards.

Impala Medico can provide professional nursing attention by qualified nurses – or alternatively ‘supported living’ with the help of a care assistant, assistance with personal care (washing and dressing) and/or domestic tasks.

Our initial care assessment will help you to decide on the level of care you require and whether you need the expertise of a qualified nurse or the support that a care assistant can offer.

Care Assessment

Impala Medico first assesses the needs of each patient who chooses homecare and is interested in our service.
The assessment process has been carefully developed to ensure that we understand and can then evaluate the medical and other personal needs and preferences of the patient.

At the centre of the assessment is the ‘Care Plan’. This is a written document that is prepared following a face-to-face interview with one of our qualified nurses. The nurse is experienced in assessing a patient’s needs, professionally and sympathetically. The Care Plan states the requirements of the patient and how it is proposed that they are to be met.

Usually it is the patient requiring treatment who is interviewed for the Care Plan, but if this is not possible due to age or infirmity, we can interview the nominated carer or family member. We may also ask for information from the GP, hospital consultant or other healthcare professionals involved. This is to assist our understanding of the patient’s needs.

The Care Plan will be supplied on paper to keep and refer to. All the information is private, seen only by you and the people who give you care and support. If you want someone else to be allowed to see the care plan, we can arrange this.

The plan is reviewed at set times. If you feel the care plan isn’t working or your needs change, then you can ask for the plan to be reassessed.

Our priority is always to ensure that care is appropriate, and delivered to the highest standards. You have the right to cancel the programme of care at any time without further charge, by providing at least 24 hours’ notice.

Impala Medico is a leading homecare agency, the specialist in complex healthcare staffing.

Impala Medico can help with homecare or domiciliary nursing for you, family members or friends.

A care assistant or qualified nurse will visit you at home to provide the experienced homecare or private nursing you need at any time of the day or night, for as long as you want support.

It’s the reassurance of professional private nursing or home care, overnight if necessary, just when you want it. Nurses and healthcare assistants are qualified and selected to ensure the highest standards of quality care provision for private nursing. We also work in close partnership with Local Authorities and the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) for complex care and other needs.

We offer a day and night booking hotline, so you can call for an initial assessment by a qualified nurse, any time.

Homecare nurses & private nursing at home include:

  • Children’s paediatric care, detox, anorexia & other eating disorders, geriatric care, mental health, learning disabilities, oncology cancer care and post-operation rehabilitation.

Children Services

Impala Medico can help you at home with all the nursing support and care you need for your child – whether you require the expertise of a qualified nurse or just an extra pair of hands to assist with personal care and domestic tasks.

Our children’s services support the highest standards of nursing and personal care in a domestic setting, in the child’s own home, surrounded by family and friends. Often this enables early discharge from hospital and may be a helpful alternative to residential care.

Impala Medico has experience in meeting the medical staffing needs of children with a range of challenges – such as:

  • Autistic spectrum.
  • Brain injuries.
  • Cerebral palsy.
  • Challenging behaviour.
  • Learning difficulties.
  • Sensory impairment.
  • Spinal injuries.
  • Substance abuse.
  • Terminal illness.
  • Physical disabilities

Detox

Patients receiving treatment for alcohol or substance abuse can now choose treatment at home, with medical supervision from Impala Medico homecare staff. The nursing agency’s detoxification support is often a practical alternative to a residential stay. It is a nationwide UK service, with the option of 24-hours a day or less frequent support, as you choose.

The detox service is provided by specialist nurses who can monitor and administer medication as required – and maintain records of the support that is needed – all to help reduce the possibility of any relapse.

The service is helpful for rehabilitation following discharge from residential care, for people who want further assistance and choose the confidentiality and privacy of home treatment. Agency nurses can work closely with each patient’s own doctor and other healthcare professionals.

Eating Disorders

Specialist nurses and care workers with experience in the field of eating disorders can help with home care support and treatment for patients of all ages and varying conditions. Impala Medico is experienced in implementing hospital plans and working together with other health care organisations, professionals, and families alike.

The diagnosis of an eating disorder is made by a GP, often with reference to a list of diagnostic criteria. Eating disorders are generally identified as anorexia, bulimia or eating disorders NOS (Not Otherwise Specified).

Support in the home is available from four hours per day for as long and often as required – both day and night and at weekends.
Impala Medico staff understand and support the right of patients to be treated with respect and dignity: confidentiality is maintained always.

Older People

By providing the best possible quality of care at home, Impala Medico can enable older people to live a fuller and more independent life, free to make their own life-style choices from day-to-day.

Geriatric homecare for the elderly in many instances provides a practical alternative to residential care. Impala Medico can ensure a high standard of support and companionship in the comfort of the senior citizen’s own home. Whether help is required for just a few hours each day or full time live-in care, overnight if necessary, Impala Medico provides trained and qualified nurses and carers to meet your needs.

Domestic services include assistance with nutrition and other support tasks, such as accompanied shopping and help with preparing meals, perhaps to regain skills after an illness. There are also specialist services for older people with conditions such as dementia or Alzheimer’s.

Mental Health

Specialist nurses and support workers from Impala Medico are trained and experienced in dealing with a range of mental health issues for people of all age groups and backgrounds.

Care and medication plans are developed and maintained in coordination with medical practitioners, social services, Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) and other relevant organisations. The goal is to ensure each person’s individual medical and rehabilitation needs are fully met.

The focus of our mental health care services is on rehabilitation and empowerment. We work with everyone to develop the skills and confidence needed to return to independent living, wherever possible.

Impala Medical can meet a wide range of needs, including care for those with dementia or specific mental health problems; and those suffering from a brain injury or illnesses that affect mental performance and ability. The agency ensures that all care that is provided is thoughtful, non-judgmental and respectful always. Overnight help is available, as well as support from qualified RMN and RNMH nursing personnel.

Learning Disabilities

Impala Medico provides support for individuals with learning difficulties in a domestic, homecare setting. Experienced support workers are available to assist those with mild to profound learning disabilities in their own homes. Overnight support is available too, as well as respite care for a day, a week or longer as required, in your own home or a holiday setting.

The service promotes independence and social interaction, whilst maintaining health and safety. It can enable service users to access community-based activities and resources and take more control over their own life choices.

Our ‘person-centred’ approach often enables individuals to direct their own support, emphasising independence, choice and personal control. Impala Medico helps the family and those receiving care to periodically review the support that is received. This may include personal care and daily assistance with domestic tasks, as well as inclusion in community living.

Oncology

Impala Medico, can offer professional care with the reassurance and security provided by support in your own home, from just a few hours each day, up to 24 hours round-the-clock care, for people of all ages requiring oncology treatment.

Our nurses and carers provide acute cancer treatments, palliative and general care, with an emphasis on personal, individual support.

Specialist nurses and carers help patients and their families with their medical and care needs in liaison with the patient’s GP and other health care professionals. Our staff at Impala Medico will ensure the patient and family members receive support that offers tact and dignified care in what can be a stressful and upsetting time.

A national and international service for oncology nursing is available, at home or in other settings.

Rehabilitation

Sometimes patients require a longer stay in hospital than is necessary for clinical reasons. This occurs if they don’t have access to the support at home that they need to assist with otherwise simple domestic tasks or routine treatment or medication. This is where our homecare service can help you.

To assist rehabilitation after a stay in hospital, and to ensure a speedy return home, Impala Medico can often help to facilitate an earlier discharge date by putting care in place. This can be by prior agreement directly with your GP or hospital consultant, as you choose. This support enables patients to recuperate in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes.

For post-operative rehabilitation home support, qualified and highly skilled nurses and carers can assist with all personal care; help with domestic tasks; and specialist medical help including physiotherapy and rehabilitation programmes.

Types of Services

Hospital Discharge
Homecare from Impala Medico can often help patients to avoid an extended stay in hospital or a residential care home – and instead to recuperate in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes. This is because patients may otherwise have to spend longer periods in hospital than is necessary for clinical reasons if, for example, there is no one available at home to provide suitable homecare on discharge.

Impala Medical can often help to facilitate an earlier discharge date, in liaison with the patient’s hospital consultant or other medical professional.

For post-operative and other rehabilitation, qualified and experienced nurses and care assistants can help with all medical and personal care. This can range from providing specialist remedial help, including physiotherapy and rehabilitation programs – through to assistance with domestic tasks, overnight too if necessary.

Home Care
Do you need help around the home because of age or infirmity?

If you want assistance with personal care (such as washing and dressing), meal preparation, simple domestic tasks or shopping, then our homecare staff at Impala Medico are ready and able to help.

Homecare staff can remind patients to take medication, or just provide the reassurance that there is someone present to talk to and to help if any difficulties arise.

We Provide 2 Categories of Home Care Staff as Follows:

  • Care Assistant: this is a non-medically qualified person, who is trained and experienced in delivering essential personal care and assistance, including help with simple domestic tasks.
  • Support Worker: to provide non-personal support, perhaps with help around the home, such as cleaning and tidying, or with the laundry.

All staff are interviewed and assessed by Impala Medico, to meet relevant healthcare standards.

Personal Care
Personal care is provided by a care assistant who is trained to assist with bathing and dressing and other non-medical but personal tasks, where a patient is restricted because of age or infirmity, perhaps following an illness or discharge from hospital.

If you need help with getting up in the morning or preparing for bed, for example, Impala Medico can provide you with support at set times of the day or night – or 24hours a day, around the clock as you require. Our care assistants help with all essential tasks and activities to help you to live at home as comfortably and safely as possible

Help can include cooking you a light lunch, making a cup of tea or prompting you to take your medication.

At all times we help to ensure your security and wellbeing. All our staff are interviewed and assessed by Impala Medico to meet relevant UK healthcare standards.

Nursing Care
When a patient requires the care and attention of a qualified nurse, Impala Medico can help.

We provide experienced nurses nationwide, and overseas too, with expertise in the full range of nursing specialisations.

Nursing care can be provided just when you need it, whether for a few days or an extended period of support, overnight and 24-hours a day if required. We can arrange for nursing support to be in place immediately upon discharge from hospital, in liaison with the hospital consultant or other healthcare professionals, so that the necessary care is available when arriving home.

We carry out a detailed assessment to understand the care needs of each patient, in consultation with all relevant healthcare and service providers, as well as family members too. From the assessment process, we produce a Care Plan, which specifies the details and range of nursing support required for the agreement of the patient.

Impala Medico can provide nursing care under direction of Primary Care Trusts (PCTs), as required. All nursing staff are interviewed and assessed by Impala Medico, to meet relevant healthcare standards.

24 Hours Overnight Care
Overnight care at home can often be a practical and welcome alternative to residential care. With the agreement of the hospital consultant and GP, we can provide a patient with all the necessary nursing support that may be required, in the comfort and familiarity of the home setting.

Impala Medico provides 24-hour round the clock supervision and nursing care when needed. You may choose live-in support, perhaps with a nurse or care assistant sleeping in a separate room on the premises, to provide you with the reassurance that help is there, immediately available if you need it.

As you would expect with homecare staffing, all our nursing and care staff are interviewed and fully assessed, to ensure compliance with relevant healthcare standards. We always seek to ensure continuity of staffing, when requested, so that staff are familiar with your medical routines and personal preferences.

How it Works
At Impala Medico: Our goal is to provide the highest standards of homecare, in a service that is clear and easy to understand, including details of pricing and Terms & Conditions . If you want to cancel at any time, you can do this by giving us at least 24hours notice by phone.

Before care is provided, it is important that a Care Assessment is completed. A qualified nurse will meet you at home to complete a written Care Plan. This enables us to fully understand the type of service required and agree it with you.

Your Care Coordinator will then discuss with you by phone: the service required, the frequency and duration, and the type of staff – whether a qualified nurse or care assistant is needed. You’ll have the opportunity to meet with the individual in advance, if you choose.

A final confirmation of the service and the cost is then provided. We request that all services are paid for in advance by credit card or bank transfer. We will of course refund the cost of any services you do not receive.

The service can be cancelled at any time by giving at least 24 hours’ notice by telephone or e-mail.

CCG & Domiciliary Provider
Impala Medico works with the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and domiciliary providers to provide homecare support at any time, nationwide – often at short notice. We can ensure a prompt and responsive service because of our extensive database of qualified nurses and healthcare assistants (HCAs), supported by a national recruitment programme and detailed Assessment Process.

All the nursing and care staff that we supply undergo a detailed compliance process of face-to-face interviews and full reference checks. Each interview includes document checks and evaluation of language skills. It is carried out nationwide, in most major towns and cities in the UK. This is so that we can supply approved staff on a local basis, to meet almost any staffing request at any time, safely and securely.

We operate one of the most advanced systems of compliance in the UK. It is rigorously audited and reviewed on a continuous basis. Our division of compliance staff is trained and works exclusively in this important discipline. All their work is further checked and verified by a Quality Control team.

The compliance process is supported by our advanced IT systems. There is a rigorous system of controls and safeguards for compliance. This ensures that all staff that are available for placement are fully compliant, and that all renewable registrations are fully up-to-date.
